Industry 4.0

What does industry digitalisation mean?
Industry 4.0 is the application of innovative technologies throughout the supply chain with the purpose of increasing the efficiency of the use of resources in industrial companies, as well as supporting the emergence of new smart products and, in turn, innovative business models in industry. To maintain, and better yet, increase Estonia’s competitiveness, significant investments must be made in modernising industry in the following years. Industry digitalisation means using different technologies to the full and integrating machines into a coherent system in a factory, which will allow for greater efficiency and increased productivity.

ITL and industry digitalisation?
Production digitalisation is the most substantial element in the Industry 4.0 concept. It means the co-application of different modern information technology solutions in production to increase revenue or decrease costs. New sensors, larger amounts of data and advanced analytics enable companies to rethink their processes and achieve smarter production and increased productivity. Our goal is to develop a common industry 4.0 cooperation platform, and we are working towards making this a reality.

The Estonian ICT cluster has brought together the best companies offering industry digitalisation technologies, such as Proekspert, Tieto, BCS Intera, Helmes, Columbus, LeanEst and Fujitsu. Under the cluster’s leadership, pilot projects have been initiated to showcase the application of future technologies and to create new business models in different industries.
